Little Honey had her picture taken this morning. At the last minute I decided I wanted to make her a dress to wear for it. So I grabbed 2 yards of fabric from JoAnns and got to work. Both of these are variations of Simplicity 5695 (which I had tried for her last fall but at the time she was a little too small for the pattern). I used the pattern pieces for the sleeve and bodice but then added length (rather than making it tiered) and used elastic thread to add shirring for the blue one, and the elastic waist band for the flowered one.
She wore the blue one for her pictures– I can’t wait to see them! I thought she looked so cute, and her dress fit perfectly. Each of these only took about an hour and a half (a little longer for adding the waist band on the flowered one)– I couldn’t believe how fast they went, actually. I used a yard of each but had quite a bit leftover (could get by with less than a yard if I don’t cut the back on the fold of the fabric). I’m thinking this would also be really cute as a simple summer top! (no surprise there, since I’ve made the adult version of this shirt about a million times.)
